The respondent is a 30-year-old man from Sudan. He was pushed back along with 5 other men also from Sudan. The group was aged between 27 and 35 years. The group was pushed back from Romania to Serbia on the 21 of June 2022 at around 5 pm.
According to the respondent, the group was intercepted by the police at the border after entering Romania. They were stopped by two men whom they identified as officers as they were wearing black uniforms with emblems on them. The group was not sure but assumes that it was One of them was wearing a balaclava. They were driving a white car that had something written on the side.
The respondent reported that at first, the police officers took phones, power banks, and money from the transit group. They only returned their phone and kept the power banks, and all their money, which added up to an amount of around 300 euros.
According to the respondent, the police officers asked them for their documents, and where they were from and took pictures of all of them. The group said that they came to ask for asylum but the officers denied it.
‘they tell us no, go back’
As they were forced to go back over the border to Serbia. Therefore the group returned to the place where they started their transit attempt.
