Original Report

On Thursday, the 12th of May 2022, 4 people were apprehended by the Croatian authorities and were subsequently pushed back to Serbia. They are 20, 23, 25 and 38 years old, all coming from Afghanistan.

They had arrived by foot at a resting/ parking lot on a highway in Croatia, between Spacva and Bosnjaci, around 20 kilometers from the Serbian border. The respondent thinks that they were seen by the authorities on surveillance cameras. The respondent reported that at first, one police car arrived, with 2 officers inside. Even though the respondent told the police that they were looking for asylum, the 4 persons were apprehended and not given any chance to formalize their asylum application. Another police car arrived, described by the respondent as a Volkswagen Crafter Prisoner Transport, with a cell at its back. He also described that there were 2 other officers driving this van.

The 4 persons were forced to enter this cell, and were directly driven to the Serbian border, near the Bosut river, near Batrovci (45.055024,19.101898). There, they were forced to walk in direction of Serbia
