The respondent is a 25-year-old man from Syria. He was pushed back from Hungary to Serbia on the night of 19/05/2022. The respondent was part of a group of 5 people, including a 9 years old minor.

Some hundred meters after crossing the border between Hungary in Serbia the group was apprehended by two men. Shortly after, two other men arrived. As the respondent saw a Hungarian flag on their uniform, he identified them as being Hungarian officers. The officers were beating two of the people on the move (PoM) for about half an hour. They were kicked with fists, feet, and the police flashlights, one of them on the head.

“They kicked them, while they were on the earth they were kicking them. The little boy was crying”

The officers stole their power bank, but did not confiscate any other belongings.

“They always steal the powerbank”

According to the respondent the officers were talking in a rude way to them, they seemed to be insulting them even if they could not understand because they were speaking in a foreign language, probably Hungarian. They were also threatened by an officer using his gun. None of them asked for asylum. The officers also asked the group if they were from Afghanistan or Pakistan.

“If you are from Afghanistan the violence is much harder”

After that, the five PoM were loaded into a van and brought to a gate that his on the main road to go back to Serbia, near Horgos. Then the group of five PoM came back walking to the place they are staying in Serbia.

“The little boy is mad from the walking, nothing else to add but they are tired to repeatedly going and coming back.”
