Original Report

The respondent is a 27 Syrian male. He was pushed back with 3 other Syrian People on the Move from Romania to Serbia on the 31 of May 2022 at 4 pm.

According to the respondent, before entering Romania a Serbian person saw them getting to the border, and tried to attack them with a stick. They ran away so nothing happened to them. After entering Romania, about a kilometer away from the crossing point, a police car came to them. They asked them to come to the vehicle and took their phone to put them in a bag.

“Normally they are doing like this, they take the mobile phone put it in their bag and give back the mobile phone after entering Serbia”

There were two Romanian police officers wearing a dark blue uniform, no balaclava, and had a gun by their belts. The respondent recognized the Romanian flag on their uniform. The car was a black jeep.

The officers took their pictures but did not ask for any personal informations. No one asked for asylum. They were forced to walk back to Serbia, the police car driving behind them. Their phones were resituated once at the border and they were told by the officers to go back to Serbia.
