On the 3rd of October, 30 people from Pakistan were walking in the Croatian forest near road D52. Around 11 am, ten officers in camouflage uniforms and five Croatian policemen caught the group who were trying to cross the country on foot. The respondent for this report was 18 years old, and in his transit group included some minors (15 years old) and other young men, not older than 21.

The officers forced the young men to lay down on the ground. Then they took their shoes, mobiles, food, money and all their other belongings. At that time, while the transit group were not allowed to move and had to face the ground, the officers started beating them with batons, especially on their legs. The respondent also said that the officers used bad words against them, even though they could not understand everything, since the officers spoke in Croatian.

“Police, too much beating. Commando, just a little bit.”

After catching and beating the group, one Croatian policeman and another officer in black clothes brought the group to a police station with a van. They drove for about one and a half/two hours. The group stayed there for only 10 minutes, waiting in the car. They did not enter the police station. The respondent could not recognize or remember the police station as the van they were in only had small windows.

After that, the same two officers drove them for one hour with the same van. They arrived at the border with BiH, where they found six other Croatian police officers. There, the group was beaten one more time.

“Border also, too much beating. Two times they beat.”

In the afternoon, around 3 o’clock, the Croatian officers pushed back the respondent and the rest of the group. The respondent affirms the location of the pushback was 35 km from Lipa camp in the area of Bihac, BiH.
