The respondent is a young man from Afghanistan aged 19-30. He reported that at 14:00 on August 29th, 2020, he crossed the barriers to enter the Port of Patras and hid under a truck. He waited for two hours before the truck arrived at the check-in area. He described that, after going through the check-in area, he heard the arrival of a port guard and sensed the presence of a dog, often employed by port guards operating at the port. According to him, the man he identified as a security guard - who was wearing a glow-in-the-dark bib, was tall and had green eyes -, walked several times around the perimeter of the truck and his movements were followed by the dog's insistent barking. The security guard then reportedly unleashed the dog under the truck, and the dog bit the respondent's right knee. The respondent described that the man in uniform then lowered himself to the ground and repeatedly told him to get out, spitting on his face and insulting him repeatedly with words such as "son of a bitch" and "fuck Islam".
Before leaving the area, the respondent told the guard he would make a complaint. The guard reportedly replied that he risked being forcefully transferred to a camp in Athens if he tried to report the incident.
