The respondent is an Afghani man aged between 19-30. He reported a violent incident he experienced on the 5th of October around 4pm. The respondent described he was hiding under a truck which was in the vehicle check-in area inside the New Port of Patras. He was ordered to come out from his hiding spot, which the respondent did. Once standing, the security guard confiscated the respondent's phone and damaged it by strongly pressing a pen into the screen several times. Moreover, the private guard also took a key and repeated the same movement in order to damage the object even more. The respondent described that, after having his phone screen broken, he was detained in the so-called “commando house” inside the port for approximately 24 hours. As reported, he was forcibly detained until the ships scheduled for that day parted from Patras and there was no possibility of trying the journey again. Regarding his release from detention, the respondent shared what the officer told him: “He told me that I had three hours to leave Patras. ‘You can go to Athens, Thessaloniki, or whatever. But I don’t want to see you in Patras’. He said that if he would see me again in the city, he would harm me.”
