22.09.2020 Port of Patras, Greece No Name Kitchen (38.255108, 21.736815) Incidents Apprehension Greece no yes no no no no 30 - 40 1 Afghanistan beating (with batons/hands/other), Psychological abuse (e.g. bullying, harassment, verbal insults, defamation)

The respondent is a man from Afghanistan, aged 30-40.

He reported he was hiding behind a truck in the New Port of Patras when two people that he identified as Port security guards approached the vehicle and asked him to come out. The respondent obeyed, and when he did, he was reportedly hit with a baton repeatedly on his right arm.

He described that, then, the guards hit him again, that time on the neck, near the head, causing him a wound with a deep cut in the chin. He described: “My T-shirt was dripping with blood”. Afterwards, they reportedly pulled him down to the ground, and the respondent became dizzy and lost consciousness partially. He was then dragged to what is known as the “control room”, where he was woken up by a bucket of water thrown on his head. The respondent described that he was then pulled by the arm and pushed outside. He reported that the guards insulted him throughout the whole incident, which the respondent and his translator claim to be a usual practice.
