On the 1st of December 2021, the respondent was sitting with two other men in front of the abandoned factory in which they slept. Suddenly, a police car appeared with two officers, as well as a police motorbike driven by a man wearing civilian clothes.
The officers asked for their papers, but only the respondent had an asylum seeker's card, while the others had no documentation of that sort. The officers searched their belongings and took the three of them to the police station, where they were locked in a cell with no light, only a small window.
After 10 minutes, they took out the respondent who had papers and took him to the office. There, two policemen were sitting, and one was standing. The standing officer hit him in the face several times while saying words in Greek. After a couple of minutes, he gave him back his asylum seeker card but not his mobile phone. When the respondent asked for it back, he was told to leave the police station.
