The respondent, an Afghan man aged between 19 to 30 years, describes an incident of being attacked by a police officer on September 3rd, 2020, at approximately 8:00 AM.
"On Thursday, September 3," recounts the respondent, "I was abruptly awakened, as is customary for those of us residing in this abandoned factory. It was 8:00 in the morning, and I found myself surrounded by police officers. One of them ordered me to get up. I followed the orders, but then the same officer pushed me into a hidden area of the factory, and he verbally attacked me before kicking me to the ground." The respondent describes that the officer was wearing a blue uniform, and had little hair and a robust body type.
"I don't understand why he is so violent every time he meets me," says the boy. The picture below depicts the wounds this young man suffered due to the kicking.
Following the assault, the respondent and the entire group of individuals inhabiting the premises were transported via police truck to an undisclosed location, which the respondent struggled to identify but discerned was not a police headquarters.
"We were all gathered in a room, sitting on the ground in a semicircle. There were about 130 of us because they had raked the entire port area. We had to hand over documents and telephones, and we then waited for their response," he recounts. "I was released at 1 p.m., but some of us, not having any documents, were arrested, and I do not know what will happen to them. I am worried because they threatened to deport us to other parts of Greece or Turkey if we continue to play the 'game'. I, however, have no alternative."
